Thanksgiving 2025- A Poem for you

Reading Time: 3 minutes Thanksgiving 2025 Poem by Maria Mar     What could I ever freaking be grateful for this terrible year?   Surrounded by extreme cruelty and inhumanity, facing a fascist coup intent on stealing our freedom. My nerves on edge. My heart in sorrow. What. Could. I. Possibly. Be thankful. For?! SILENCE. In the next breath, I am grateful for speaking my truth out loud. It has returned me to myself—to my center. SILENCE. In the next breath I am grateful For my center, my self-loyalty, My capacity to face chaos, destruction and cruelty And remain in a space of clarity, creativity and kindness. I am not my enemy. I am not trapped in the circumstances That tyrants build for me. I am a creator and I transform myself Anew to meet and change those circumstances. SILENCE. In the next breath I am grateful For the millions of Americans who are courageously defending our democracy, who are fighting for our freedoms, who are standing for our diversity who are preserving our humanity with their bodies and their voices, with their rapid [Read more.]

Poem: The Heart of Beauty

Reading Time: 4 minutes The Heart of Beauty with Chorus including a modified version of the Navajo prayer “I walk in beauty” 1: This is a ceremonial poem. I created it as an oasis for us to enter serenity and replenish our energy during these turbulent times. The chorus has a ChiDance with simple movements that we can do to accompany the words as a form of movement meditation. This practice is keeping me sane and returning me to beauty every day! Let me know how it works for you. NOTE 2: Soon I will be creating a video of me reading the poem and doing the movements so that you can do it with me whenever you want. I’ll try to embed the video here or place a link. If you sing up in the form at the bottom, I will send you a notice when it’s ready. NOTE 3: I am Maria Mar and I am  available to perform this ceremonial poem for your audiences. It is a great event opening for bringing people into harmony and uplifting the energy . It [Read more.]

Thanks for your guidance In front of you there is an open hand. Watch as the lines in that hand move, forming a beautiful radiant heart.Slowly a five-pointed star emerges From that heart, illuminating your being. And from that warm, golden lighta beautiful fuchsia rose unfolds. Its fragrance awakens the wisdom of your heart. The rose in the star now speaks to you. “I am the Alchemical Rose,Sent here to open your eyesto the potent elixir you hold in your heartand the magical power you hold in your hands. Open your hands and look closely. All those lines were edged with your pain, your choices and your courage. They are your wisdom, gifts, talents, experience and skills. They grant you the ability to dip the brush of your perceptioninto the palette of your beingand paint with it the life and work you want. I stretch my open hand in invitation. Hold it.I will take you into a journeywhere your hands revealthe wisdom [Read more.]

Transformation-a poem

Reading Time: < 1 minute Transformation I was again crawling down into the mud, opening yet another wound in the wrinkled, earthen body. Once again I burrowed deeply, Devouring the memories, Releasing the toxins. How ordinary, lowly, disenchanting! How un-heroic, run-of-the-mill: my life. How silly to dream of blossoms in the wind and succulent clouds while stuck to the bottom of the sludge   My heart took insult drumming madly, so feverishly that for a second I did not feel the rest of my body warble into madness. Trembling frantically, I broke down. I became chaos. One by one my old cells died. I was terrified. But in the midst of my panic I became strangely calm. Then I felt elated. I enthusiastically released my old self. I made it easy on death to devour every inch of mud clinging to my being. I was humming a hymn to my death. Humming a high-pitch song. A dream of wings and blossoms. A dream of rainbow colors and eyes that flew into the light. A dream of changing winds and pollination. I became imaginal while my [Read more.]

I Am-a self-love poem

Reading Time: 2 minutes I am (A self-love poem) Maria Mar ©2012 This is my 2011 I am poem written in retrospective * I am A speck of dust flying in the wind. The pollen perhaps that germinates a field. The oxygen atom that revives a breathless man.   I am A tiny drop in the vast ocean. The drop that joins others to rise in a huge wave. The drop that carries food to a school of fish.   I am a wee light glowing in the Great Darkness. The light that brings the lost ships to harbor and guides the child safely home.   I am not so big that I burst out of my own skin. Not so small to be insignificant. Not less. Not more. I am enough; perfect, in fact, for the purpose for which I was created.   And while that purpose may not fill a stadium, it feels my heart. And that is a vastness for which no words exist except my own.   ————————– Maria Mar March 30, 2012 *From Diary of Now   * NOTE [Read more.]

Invisible. Inaudible. A flash. Almost a memory. And they are gone. I could not see them before. They were like crazy cars bumping against my choices. Derailing my desires. But I neither heard nor saw them, though they were jamming the pathways of my mind. There were other forces in that secluded mindscape. They sat there, like fences. Doing nothing but blocking the view. I did not see those either. They showed up, however. When I tried to see the beauty just beyond my reach. The colors of a landscape for which my Soul longed so much it hurt. The crazy cars and the fences kept my mind racing inside stagnation, while I drove my will like a madwoman, trying [Read more.]
