Thanksgiving 2025- A Poem for you

Reading Time: 3 minutes Thanksgiving 2025 Poem by Maria Mar     What could I ever freaking be grateful for this terrible year?   Surrounded by extreme cruelty and inhumanity, facing a fascist coup intent on stealing our freedom. My nerves on edge. My heart in sorrow. What. Could. I. Possibly. Be thankful. For?! SILENCE. In the next breath, I am grateful for speaking my truth out loud. It has returned me to myself—to my center. SILENCE. In the next breath I am grateful For my center, my self-loyalty, My capacity to face chaos, destruction and cruelty And remain in a space of clarity, creativity and kindness. I am not my enemy. I am not trapped in the circumstances That tyrants build for me. I am a creator and I transform myself Anew to meet and change those circumstances. SILENCE. In the next breath I am grateful For the millions of Americans who are courageously defending our democracy, who are fighting for our freedoms, who are standing for our diversity who are preserving our humanity with their bodies and their voices, with their rapid [Read more.]

"I Have no Time!" How to Handle Anxiety During Crisis

Reading Time: 8 minutes “I have no time to eat… to rest… to take a nap…. to relax…. to take it slow…”… STOP! Read this post to reclaim your time and your peace. This is voice inside us that pushes us into rush, perfectionism and to-do-ism in the name of efficiency during a crisis is just a learned defensive self running scared. It is not reality and we need to detach from its panicky voice to reclaim our time and peace. This voice belongs to an archetypal Inner Self that I call the Rush Whip. It pushes us beyond what is healthy or even possible for us right now. It paints a chaotic picture of the crisis, but it is lying. And we need to step back and recognize its lie so that we can regain authorship of our situation. This is the voice of your egoic mind –which is afraid of the Unknown and therefore tries to control it. It does so by trying to use your logical mind to make lists, take actions and create plans. But because it is doing so [Read more.]

Naysayers, Haters, Mirrors and Messengers

Reading Time: 13 minutes Naysayers, Haters, Mirrors and Messengers The other day I was watching a video by Jeff Walker. I love this person! He shines with authenticity and love, and he says it as it is. You can watch the video here. I warn you that this is a long post, but if you offer or want to offer your gifts to the world, or if you have been held back by the fear of criticism, I promise that it is worth your while to read. I agree with Jeff that one of the things that is holding many of us back is the fear of being rejected, judged, criticized and even “crucified” by others; especially by our loved ones ~but also by influential people or large groups. That fear of criticism is like a barb-wire fence that blocks many paths to success, especially among women and Spiritual Creatives. We all have been the victims of that horrific infestation: Gossip. We know what that does. It spreads like toxic gas even before you get to a place, and when you enter everyone is [Read more.]

Do you Need to Create a Chrysalis?

Reading Time: 4 minutes Do you Need to Create a Chrysalis? I want to share with you the magic of my most recent shamanic performance that took place on Sunday, May 17th in New York. I just emerged from my ceremonial chrysalis and did a magical Butterfly Dance. This was an in-depth ceremony for me as well as a shamanic performance and journey for the women in the audience. I first wrote a poem and then danced it. The poem was a shamanic journey through the process of creating my chrysalis, feeding on it to become my dream and finally emerging as my embodied potential. “But what is this chrysalis?” you may ask. In nature, the chrysalis is the new skin that the caterpillar builds in order to nurture and protect its transformation into butterfly. The Sacred Feminine School of Wisdom teaches us that women also need to create a chrysalis to nurture and protect our transformation. Throughout time, there have been different ceremonies, rites or special places for women to do this, from the Moon Lodge to the Red Tent. If you are [Read more.]

6 Elements of Stressful Living-Day 5: Povertizing

Reading Time: 4 minutes 6 Elements of Stressful Living and how to Live and Work Stress Free: Day 5: Povertizing This is a series of six articles. Get Day 1: Pushing here. Get Day 2: Rushing here. Get Day 3: Dutifying here. Get Day 4: Judgment here.   Povertization is the act of creating the conditions by which a sector of a population –let’s say women– are and stay poor. Povertizing yourself as I use it in this series has to do with learned limiting beliefs that come out of your own early –or cultural– experience with money and that keep you from achieving financial freedom. It is one of the most powerful and pervasive forms of stress in one’s life and work. Povertizing is the secret denial of money, wealth and financial freedom that we embed in our priorities, choices, interpretations and practices. Povertizing may take the form of splitting what you love to do from how you earn your money, so that you have to work more to get money. It may take the form of not maximizing the income you can [Read more.]
