The problem we have with love is that when we see it coming, we run to greet it as an old friend.
Once it is safely snuggled in our arms, however, we treat it as another, worthless possession; a reflection of our own little worth.
It is only when it moves away that we realize it was a gift from a passing God.
Had we realized this from the start, we would have welcome it as a rarity and never believe it to be ours, or permitted ourselves to treat it with common familiarity ~for it is this habit that offends the Gods and pushes love away.
