A bite out of life for you to grow healthy.
This is a lifebite: A bite out of real life with life lessons included.
The other day I went to a Bomba concert. That’s an Afro-Puerto Rican dance which I love.
In the intermission we were dancing while we waited for a turn to use the toilet. The two women in front of me were talking about a dance class with one of the best Bomba teachers in town.
One of them, who had just said that she absolutely adored Bomba, immediately complained because she did not want to pay a meager $25 dollars for a dance class with that fantastic teacher. This dance class included drumming lessons, food and an all-day event. A gift, if you think about it!
The other woman, bless her heart, retorted that they blew $25 any time they went out to eat in the cheapest restaurants and that did not bring the wellness and happiness as dancing did.
Still, the other woman complaint: “But twenty five dollars! That’s a lot!”
Life Lesson
If we peel the surface of this conversation, we can get to the core of what steals a woman’s happiness. Let’s go for it!
What this woman was really saying was that twenty five dollars was a lot to invest to give herself what she wanted and what made her happy.
Therefore, she was truly saying that she did not deserve this.
Because she did not deserve to give herself what she wanted and she did not deserve to spend $25 dollars on what she loved, then she was making a choice. She would use this money in something insignificant, like she felt about herself.
She would rather blow her money, time, attention and energy in any old junk. She would rather use it to eat junk food and make herself sick.
Now it’s your turn
How are you using your resources: money, time, attention and energy?
Look at where you invest your resources and you will uncover the secret beliefs that devalue your Sacred Self, sabotage your success and steal your happiness.
- If you want to have a healthy body, but invest your resources eating junk food, then you have a hidden belief that you are not worthy of being health. You may also believe that you don’t have what it takes to change a habit; that you are weak or at the mercy of your habits.
- If you want to dance, paint, sing or do anything creative and innovative, but instead stay home watching TV or go wherever your friends decide, then you may secretly believe that you don’t deserve to have what you want, that you are selfish if you are happy or that in order to be loved and accepted, you have to betray your desires.
- If you want to embody your purpose and create or grow a business that expresses your gifts in the world, but you keep procrastinating, refuse to invest in a coach or support, never start, do not create anything to sell, do not finish or write that book, then you may be held back by a hidden belief that you are not enough, that your message is not important, or that people will reject your gifts.
Go ahead. Take a look. See what is visible and obvious to find what is invisible and hidden.
Only then can you change it.
