Your Success Matrix

What is the Essence of success for you? Success without happiness means nothing. To achieve a success that fulfills your soul, you need to give yourself permission to be happy. In order to do this, you need to know your Essence and find an organic way to express it in the world. Once your path to success is aligned with your organic nature, it flows effortlessly and gracefully. The Success Matrix I share with you here is a first step to create your Unique Definition of Success (UDS).

Imagine that success is a flower, like lavender. When you distill its Essence into an oil blend, lavender becomes an essential oil with miraculous healing powers. The Essence of lavender calms the mind and nerves, soothes the body, renews the skin, helps disinfect wounds and helps burns and cuts to heal quicker without scars. It eases sleep and acts in many other ways to express the spirit of the flower in its relationship to others.

When you pursue success, what is the Essence of what you desire? If your success goal is prosperity, is that the Essence of what you desire?

Just like the Essence of lavender goes beyond the tiny flower, the Essence of what you desire is often deeper, greater and at the same time more personal, more close to the heart, than the success goal itself. In the example above, you may truly desire the resources and ability to live a life of quality, to help your loved ones or to have the time and resources to develop your gifts and offers to their fullest potential.

Because the Essence of success is so personal, I want to give you a success matrix that is more universally human and at the same time serves as a guide to your very unique definition of success. In searching for such a matrix I realized that when the Soul moves us in the path to success, it is truly seeking its genuine happiness and fulfillment.

Success without happiness is therefore success without Soul. Your Soul ~ and for that matter your BodySoul, is the Personal Compass in your path to success, for it lets you know if the goals you seek and the means you use to manifest them are expressing your Essence.

In other words, the Essence of your success is your own Essence. If your goals and means express and nurture your Essence, then you are creating success with soul and your success comes from within. If they run counter to your Essence, then you need to examine the inherited scripts and beliefs that may be distorting the Essence of your success.

Essence is another word for Spirit. Spirit is another word for your unique energy. Your Spirit is a single pattern of love and conscious energy that temporarily nests within your physical self, but actually exists outside time and space; in the constantly evolving energy field we call Universe. Your Spirit or Essence is immortal, infinite, evergreen and at the core of Oneness. You are a holistic atom of Divinity.

If the Essence of Lavender expresses itself in peace, renewal and cleansing; what does the Essence of YOU express? Use the Success Matrix to come up with your own response.

The Success Matrix

Success is living a life that nurtures your genuine happiness and allows the organic unfolding and expression of your Grace, so that in growing to your fullest potential, you enrich this world.

To use this Success Matrix, follow this two part process:

PART 1: Extract the Essence of You

STEP 1: Answer the question below by writing in your journal for 5 minutes using stream of consciousness (write non-stop without censoring anything that comes to mind).

If the Essence of Lavender expresses itself in peace, renewal and cleansing; what does the Essence of you express?

STEP 2: Distill your writing to a couple of sentences that express your Essence.

PART 2: Develop your Unique Definition of Success (Your UDS)

Using the paragraph you just developed and guided by the core definition of success given here (see below), write your own UDS.

STEPS

1.     Begin with 3 minutes of deep breathing to connect to your BodySoul.

2.     Then brainstorm for about 5-10 minutes.

3.     You can use any type of writing or mapping you like to brainstorm while writing in your journal.

4.     Then polish the results into a paragraph.

5.     Next, distill the paragraph into 1-3 sentences.

6.     Make sure that your UDS statement has the 3 essential components of success, marked with numbers inside parenthesis in the paragraph below.

“Success is (1) living a life that nurtures your genuine happiness and (2) allows the organic unfolding and expression of your Grace, so that (3) in growing to your fullest potential, you enrich this world. “
