I sometimes suspect that centuries of finding fault with us as “incomplete” human beings while at the same time demanding more of us than of men has screwed up the success wiring in women.
We women tend to invalidate our value and talents because we are not perfect. I see it all the time.
- A Leader refusing to acknowledge her massive achievements because she does not have perfect health.
- An artist refusing to acknowledge her international fame because she is not earning enough.
- An artpreneur refusing to value her innovative solutions because she is not yet making the money she wants from them.
- A pioneer movement healer refusing to acknowledge her expert contribution to the field because she does not have a diploma, even though she was one of the pioneers in the field.
I used to beat myself for years for any little mistake I made or for any event that turned up not to meet my best standards. This self-beating with the Success Yardstick created self-doubts about my value, my expertise and my wisdom that would show up whenever I had to present my work to be selected, sell my products or offer my services.
I’ve released the Success Yardstick. I shattered it in the fire of my own passion and self-love. Being free of old labels and judgments, free from perfectionist measurements and able to embrace whatever expression comes through me, without ego and without judgment has made a big difference in my sense of fulfillment, the joy with which I serve my tribe and my own sense of authority.
This has enabled me to make a wonderful discovery: any and every mess that I am or I have is a path to perfect my purpose.
Your metamorphosis from Caterpillar Self to Butterfly Self starts when you realize deep in your heart that you are NOT defined by your circumstance, whether they are lack or luck.
You are bigger than your circumstances.
When you trust this… that’s when you open your wings and fly as high as you want.
