Sunday Prayer
Like Music through the Flute
May I peel off the avoidance
that obscures me under layers of fear,
so that my love shines from within
to meet the darkest hour,
like dragonfly at night.
May each cell in my body dance in harmony
with life, with each other, with my dreams,
melting and discharging the icy sheets of fear
so that I float and flourish
in warm pools of healing currents
in the middle of the mayday marsh,
like a water lily.
May my eyes see the light that my Shadows are drawing,
so that my heart embraces the love within me
and my brain releases the fear within me;
that in the middle of the deafening fire
the majestic swan takes off,
and the shooting comes to a halt,
in awe of grace
as swan rises to freedom.
May I lay naked, open, exposed, without armor
so that all the textures of life touch my skin
leaving their impression;
and all the sounds of life pass through me,
leaving their resonance.
So that life flows through me,
like music through the flute.
