Still Point

River Woman-Primordial
Art by Maria Mar(c)2014
The beastly tow
behind the speeding car,
pushing, pushing
while the car is already
moving, moving.
Results: System collapse
The inexperienced bird
launching into the abyss
flapping, flapping,
while the feathered veteran
glides effortlessly in the wind.
Results: The school of hard knocks
Some get used to struggle
and think there is no other way.
They see those who have mastered Grace
and spit out a derision:
“Free riders! Lazy bums!
Piggy-bagging on my efforts!”
The pushers and strugglers rarely learn
that what they seek in velocity and effort
can only succeed on the Still Point.
Would they enter the eye of the storm
they would ride freely
above continents of sorrow
They would land in the Promised Land
in the blink of an eye.
