Saturday Poem
Soul Hatching
Your Soul is hatching.
You are descending into your Sacred Self.
Broken open is the shell of your consciousness
that treats you as a stranger
Veils of Forgetfulness and Deception
descend upon your mind.
Voices call your by a name
you have often heard,
yet you know in your heart
it is not you.
You seek the Majestic Swan
though you believe yourself
to be the Ugly Duckling.
You stay in the mystery
of your disowned, unknown Self.
You enter the terrifying silence.
You dive into the petrifying stillness.
And even when you see its reflection
in the pure waters,
even then you hear your voice
that is not yours crying
“Go back!
This is not real!”
But you stay. You dive.
You crack that shell
and feel the old wound hurting,
feel the loss and find the love
and the shell breaks open.
The bird or your Soul
breaks free.
The Swan flies into the light.
Delight in its emergence.
