Wednesday Journey

Do you often read the comment threads under videos and posts? I do, and half of the time the thread twists into a war of opinions.

Ann states a categorical opinion that is bound to tick someone.

Ben is ticked and replies in kind with his own categorical opinion.

Carol is then ticked by Ben’s blanket statement and reacts.

And, unless someone ignores the entire war of opinions and comes back to subject, the original topic is quickly forgotten and the comment thread deteriorates into opinions, insults and accusations.

But this is not only obvious in the internet.

In any party or reunion you can see the phenomena.

And when anyone disagrees then they react defensively, which usually means engaging in an offensive response, be it a judgment, insult or accusation.

Why are we so eager to launch and defend our opinions?

You have become attached to your opinions because they are part of the story that was painted over your eyes.

The story of you is made of old myths, false beliefs, interpretations and expectations learned and passed on through generations.

This false story of you demands to be fed judgment and opinions as proof that it is true.

This false story of you has slowly glued itself to your perception of who you are.

This story of you with all its opinions and little scripts of right and wrong, good or bad is now who you believe yourself to be.

A shaman may call this your Primary Identity.

When these opinions are attacked, it is your Primary Identity who appears to be in danger.

You may not know this, but your Primary Identity is a social construct. It must be validated from the outside. It has to. It cannot be validated from within because it is not your True Self.

And here’s what the shaman knows:

You are a vast, infinite being, a drop of divinity. You are bigger, deeper, more multi-dimensional and all-encompassing that any piece of truth.

You can see, know and understand all the pieces of truth, and there’s still room for more within you.

Why settle for a tiny opinion?

When you release your opinions in favor of your growth and compassion, you act under the Law of Love.

You love yourself enough not to reduce yourself. You love others enough not to reduce them either. You love truth enough not to reduce it to any one of its facets.

You relinquish the illusion of being validated from the outside for a more powerful validation: the experience of your infinity.

You relinquish the illusion of being right or being in control for a more powerful reality:  being love.
