Do you have breathing space?
Sure, you are breathing. If you weren’t, you’d be dead.
But I’m not talking about your breathing habits. I’m talking about your vital space. The space you give NOW to yourself.
Are you fully HERE with all of your body, attention and emotions?
Or is you body seating here while your mind is wondering about what to write next, the problem you have with your kid and the work inspection scheduled for the end of this week?
Or is your mind jumping to a future, rushing you because you are “behind” in your work and you have a meeting in two hours?
Are you aware of your movement through time and space?
Or are you living in automatic?
The Shambala Warriors from Tibet believe that the Dralas, the Spirits of a Place, dance in the empty spaces.
They allow empty spaces around focal points in their decoration. They allow empty spaces around important sacred objects.
Can the Dralas dance around your work?
How about your actions?
Can the dralas dance in-between-your-actions because you are relaxed into the moment, fully inhabiting this instant in each movement?
How about the objects in your office and home? Is your environment cluttered? Or do you allow empty spaces to walk comfortably?
If your life is cluttered in time and/or space, everything you do will reflect this.
How you do one thing is how you do everything.
You may eat so fast that you don’t even internalize that you are eating, which may make you overeat or crave more food really quickly.
You may work so fast that you do not enjoy the work, make a lot of mistakes in details and don’t give your best.
If you are a designer or artist, this may be shown in your creations. Since any focal point needs negative space around it to shine through, if you are creating marketing designs for your products, you may not do such a good job.
The list can go on. But enough is to say that giving yourself breathing space is the difference between fully living, fully feeling and being fulfilled or rushing through life feeling empty yourself because you are not allowing the Dralas to nurture your Soul with their dance.
Feel the empty spaces. Bring your attention to NOW and dance gracefully in each moment, enjoying your being HERE.
Invite the Dralas to dance in your life and in your work.
