Awaken your Venus Gifts!

Whether you already have your soul mate or are looking for him (or her), you want to invoke the beauty, grace, magnetism and sweet loving energy of Venus. Known by many names, among them Ochún, Kuan Yin, Lakshmi or Aphrodite, the Divine Female Essence of Love is the fountain of joy and delight.

Love is the greatest power in the universe. It is, in effect, the source of the beauty and perfection of the universe. What is love? For me, it is the force that animates creation. For love the perfection of the rose unfolds its spiral. For love the  ocean roars, dances and heals, birthing abundant life. In love, the seagull soars through the sky and the sparrows sing all day. The Full Moon shines to illuminate our love or our longing for love. The New Moon goes within to guide us to the source of love. Because of love and for love you and I exist. Without love, life would be meaningless. When there is love, all can be achieved, transcended, created or withstood.

Our society, however, has relegated love to a tiny romantic corner to be visited in Valentine and when you want to watch the Hallmark Channel. That is like trying to reduce the mighty ocean into a bucket. Our society is obsessed with power. But by power it means control. Please, beautiful sister, do not fall under the patriarchal spell that has for centuries defined love as control, creating endless wars, making slaves and taking women hostage of its fear.

The myth of power as control is costing us our happiness, our love lives and our families’ happiness. Control is nothing but an addictive illusion. As a human being, you have an awesome power. You can create. You can co-create your circumstances, dancing with those who share it and the forces that can shape it. You can even summon all the forces and elements in the Universe to shapeshift your circumstances. That is a vast power! But you cannot control. When you try to control, you become a slave to that which you want to control, and you forsake love.

Let us then, begin the New Year of 2009 by celebrating love. Let us receive the upcoming Valentine by visiting the place within us that allows us to be the priestesses of love. For women, let’s face it sisters, are the embodiment and guardians of love among humanity. There are some extraordinary men who place love at the foundation of their lives and offer it the gifts of time and energy to be honored and nourished. But most of the time, it is us women keeping the torch alive, reminding our men of love, reminding them of birthday cards and anniversary gifts. Prompting or inspiring them to be romantic.

Then this gift touches you, and your skin, your bones, your heart and your soul become soft and vibrate. My warmth flows through you and around you, making home for you.

HARMONY

I am Harmony. Every day I summon Harmony. I become one with the Harmony of hawk, flying seamlessly in an open sky. I become one with the Harmony of sky, birthing me in each breath. I become one with the water. The water I drink. The water that showers me. The water that helps me cook. I become one with Harmony. Harmony is my prayer, for in Harmony love expresses itself. In Harmony, everything becomes music. In Harmony each being sings its unique note and joins others to create the symphony of life.

BEAUTY

Beauty is the expression of the Essence of a being. Nature expresses its Essence with transparency. Rose does not hide its aroma or its velvety delicacy. It does not even hide its thorns. Tree does not try to be straight and perfect. It simply is. It seeks the light and twists and turns to enjoy it. It is naked in winter and dress for a party in Spring and gives from itself effortlessly. This is beauty. This is the beauty I hold dear, the unaffected, loving beauty that shines from within. This is my beauty.

GRACE

As all springs from love, so does Grace. It is the expression of love in every act. It is Harmony moving us from within. I breathe deeply, from my Essence. I surrender to the Goddess of Love. I summon Harmony and listen to the song of the universe. And then I dance. All the clumsy tiredness, the tiny irritations disappear. I am love. I am beauty. I am Harmony. I am Grace.

JOY

“You are a gift, Maria,” a friend recently told me. How sweet, those words. Yes, that is what I am, what I want to be. What I want to give. We often work so hard to be loved and accepted, when all the time what others want and enjoy is our Essence and our Presence. I am present here now. I am celebrating this moment. As Isha (Author of Why Walk when You can Fly?) says, “Love creates me in my perfection.” I celebrate you today. I celebrate life. Laughter heals, beautiful sister. Let us celebrate and laugh.
